Totally vegan & cruelty-free, E.L.F Cosmetics (sometimes known as lower-case elf standing for 'eyes, lips, face') is an absolute steal of a brand that's now readily available at Kmart stores.
Unlike some other budget beauty brands, E.L.F. doesn't shy away from clever formulas or inexpensive skincare lines - they really have absolutely every beauty need covered if you're putting together a travel beauty kit or you're looking to do a little 'splurge & save' shuffle by replacing some premium brands with cheaper dupes.
Whatever the reason, I've used a good amount of E.L.F products in my time, and often these were purchased for years from the isles of Target in the US (I could spend hours in that beauty section), so I've got a very highly curated top 3 product selection that are all $8 or less:
I've always preferred micro-makeup over full coverage, and spot-concealing is essential to this. I have used at least 5 or 6 of these and the tiny tip makes for neat but effective coverage, and doesn't buff or splay the product out too far. (Also, this doubles as a perfect lipstick brush or concealer brush to clean up your lip line later).
I've been on the fibre brow gel bandwagon for some time, it's a really easy one-step way to build volume and hold brows while adding tint - sure, when you have the time a 3-step brow routine is awesome, but this is really quick and very effective, it also replaced by ModelCo fibre brow gel (and sits at an even lower price point).
Now I'm not saying there isn't cause for a beautifully formulated gloss that also conditions your lips and has shimmer and amazing packaging - but when it comes to wanting a clear gloss to top any other lip shades or just as a sheer kind of early-2000s cool beauty look, it doesn't get much better than the E.L.F Lip Lacquer. It's totally clear and sans shimmer, and it's also a must if you've got a favourite premium gloss that you don't want to have mingle with another lip colour (you know when the doe-foot applicator gets all stained and then it stains the gloss and the cycle continues...).
Their full Australian website also stocks a much more complete range including extensive skincare options (the Hydrating range is a winner!).
