#beautyreceipts: What I bought this month.

It’s March, it’s getting cooler (here in Australia) and this month presented an opportunity to use a Mecca gift card from Christmas 2020, another foray into #soapbrows and a refill of a new classic in my skincare routine.

1. Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Crush Body Fragrance Mist: Whilst I can’t get into the rich body creams from this cruelty-free line, it’s no secret that I love a fragrance mist. You can apply them more liberally, they are always a lower price point than an EDP or EDT, and it’s a great way to lean in to a scent family that you wouldn’t normally wear. For instance, Brazilian Crush has “Top notes of pistachio and almond, mid notes of heliotrope, jasmine petals and base notes of vanilla, salted caramel, sandalwood.” Warm and caramelicious (my term), it’s not an ALL DAY EVERY DAY wear for me, but it’s an easy, wearable scent that’s surprisingly long-lasting, with one Mecca reviewer describing it as “a good mood in a bottle.

2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze: I’ve tried a few brow products, including waxes, but I’ve never been keen on traditional soap brows because of the ingredients that keep the soap bar together which can clog pores and irritate skin (it’s the same reason you’re better off using a liquid gentle cleanser for your body than a standard bar soap). Anyway, even the soap-brows-inspired products ask you to wet a spooly and froth up the product a little while (for me) delivering less than stellar results - this product is unique in that it’s a clear wax that DOESN’T need to be water-activated. My brow hairs are stubborn and don’t WANT to stay laminated so this could all be a fool’s errand, but I’ve heard really good things about this little pot of crystal gel. (I'll report back if it's good news!).

3. Software Custom Topical: Yeah, Software is pretty fantastic and I just got my first refill of my custom blend in the post this month. Mixing tretinoin, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, it’s the one-stop-shop for my nightly skincare post-cleansing - it's so much easier than trying to layer all of these products each evening and it absorbs in minutes. Having already used tret for some time, it's not exactly a before and after reveal moment, but the ease of this all-in-one means you're much more likely to use it (and consistency is what creates results when it comes to prescription skincare!).
